La passion d’un homme, the title from the first wood engraving series from Frans Masereel that came to my attention years ago; since then I tell him as one of my companions in this world to honor and love, member of a very private fellowship even without having seen him in person, although by ways and origin he wouldn’t really be very close but rather antipode.
“Human being passion”: this could be the title of all this superb artist project, fanatic, childish and refined; which is the same as saying that Masereel places himself from the beginning in the center of all of his art. Since the human being ordeal, the passion to really become one, the pain to be in transit, a difficult one, where to rise and bitterly fall, time and again, this history of passion is the only and everlasting content of all art.
